We feel that most people, when provided with the right training and guidance, will naturally seek to create environments in which they can transform conceptual understanding of spiritual teaching into experiential knowing, and thus resolve their deepest questions about how to make freedom, compassion and awareness alive and active in their lives.

Unfettered Mind aims to make this training and guidance accessible to all who seek it by acting as a catalyst for the creation and functioning of these environments through a global network of like-minded people.

  • Students, whatever their starting point, will have the opportunity to explore their questions and will have the resources, support, and guidance to pursue those questions, or subsequent questions, as far as they wish.
  • Those who show aptitude and ability will have the opportunity to teach and guide others in their path while enjoying both strong peer relationships that provide support, feedback, new ideas and best practices and continued guidance in their own spiritual path from experienced and capable teachers.
  • Experienced teachers will have the opportunity to teach and guide students in the pursuit of their spiritual questions, to guide and mentor other teachers, and continue the exploration of their own spiritual questions and challenges without being isolated.
  • The whole will be a loosely structured network in which relationships form as needed and dissolve when they no longer serve a purpose. While a natural hierarchy will develop due to differences in ability, experience, and knowledge, the network structure will make connections and relationships fluid, allowing them to form as needed. A new student, for instance, may work with either a relatively new teacher or a very experienced one. The effectiveness of the relationship, not the status of one or the other, will be the determinant.
  • Students will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, determining what their spiritual questions are and what they need to answer them. At all stages, they will be able to contact other students, teachers, and mentors to help in their exploration.
  • Conceptual material will be assimilated through self and group study programs, programs designed and pursued by those individuals, albeit with the guidance and experience of teachers connected with Unfettered Mind.
  • The transformation of that conceptual knowledge into experiential and lived understanding will take place in environments of awareness, be they individual consultations, peer practice groups, retreats, or other modalities.
  • All suitable people will be able to engage with Unfettered Mind regardless of their socio-economic status. Students, or those wishing to learn, receive guidance, or participate in a program, will work out an agreement with the teacher in which the responsibilities of each party including goals, subject matter, accountability, time frame, compensation for services, etc., are spelled out.
  • Through this system of agreements, the network will generate sufficient revenue to sustain Unfettered Mind, and those teachers who are available on a full time or nearly full time basis.
